Here in the UK, we think of our furry friends less like pets, and more as members of the family. Which is why they get as much of a say (or should that be bark?) in our choice of car.

So, what should you take into consideration when choosing a dog-friendly vehicle? We’ll walk you through some of the most important things to keep your dog safe, comfortable and calm while travelling.

COMFORT IS CORG-KEY.

Your pup will need space to stretch out. Ask yourself, can your dog sit, stand and lie down comfortably? They’ll need enough height, as well as width, in order to relax and feel chilled for the whole drive.

CONSIDER HOW THEY’LL HOP PUP IN.

Easy access is essential for dogs, as they’ll start and end each journey hopping into the back or boot of your car.

A low base can help dogs get in with ease. Which can be especially handy for less agile hounds, or smaller dogs. For some very small breeds, and older dogs, a low base will be a great start but they may also need a ramp too.

Each dog’s needs are unique, so it’s important to tailor the accessibility of your car to what works for your furry friend.

LOOK FOR STURDY MUTT-ERIALS.

You’ll want an interior that can stand up to muddy walks and messy paws. Which is why you’ll want to opt for durable, easy-to-clean fabrics. You can also add mats and liners to make life easier.
